Design Rules:

  • You may only use the following to construct your final car:Tape is only allowed on cars during the prototyping phase (to allow for rapid prototyping)
    • 3 sheets of paper (provided)
    • 4 wheels, 2 axles (provided)
    • 1 drinking straw for axle housing (not to be used as structure)

  • No other materials are allowed
  • You may use markers, colored pencils, and or crayons to decorate your car if desired
  • Your cad mass must be under 30 grams (without the egg)
  • Your cars width must be less than 12cm
  • Your cars length (in order to fit on the track) must be around 20cm (both sets of wheels must be on the track to start)
  • You will not be able to touch or guide your car after it has started down the track
  • The design must allow for quick and easy removal and inspection of the egg
  • Wheels must roll on the day of competition, otherwise it will be disqualified

1. What conclusions do you have about your prototype?
I think this is a very good prototype. I think this is going to be the best prototype we will ever make. It needs some changes and fixes, but after we fix the little problems we have, I think this is a good prototype.

*I think that our box structure kind of looks like a mini van. Mini vans are generally safe so this design is definitely likely to protect our egg. Our times were not very consistent and they varies significantly.

*Our vehicle is going faster now that it was a more aero dynamic structure, but it is still going too slow and its wheels need to be more perpendicular to the vehicle itself.
*We could use a ruler to make sure that our wheels are properly aligned. We can also try and look to find ways to make our car go faster by using a new design, using the information we have gathered from our past three vehicles.

1. What conclusions do you have about your prototype?
Our prototype is very very slow compared to everyone else's. But, I think that our vehicle will protect our egg better than any of the other vehicles. Our car makes it have less of an impact and so when it hits the brick, it won't affect the egg as much as other people's. I think that our egg will be very safe in our vehicle, but I think that our car will most likely be the slowest out of all of them.
